Lyrical Content Seminar – A Song Writing Seminar

ZimTalent is conducting a song writing workshop in Harare on the 30th of May, 2015 at Park View Restaurant in the Harare Gardens. The workshop will be held under the banner “Lyrical Excellence” with the target audience being song writers, producers and musicians. The presenter for the workshop will be from the Zimbabwe College of Music (Mr Walter Mujuru). He will be assisted by a panel of resource persons comprising of a Music teacher, a Music Producer/ teacher and a Musician.
This workshop is ZimTalent’s response to the outcry by our music loving public that there is poor lyrical content in our local music and that is sometimes unfit for the airwaves and general public consumption. Our objective is to bring out the best in lyrical content from our song writers.

Present will be the Director of National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ)- Mr Elvas Mari, the Director of the Zimbabwe College of Music, Mrs Rachel CJ Chigwanda and the Chairman of Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA), Mr Albert Nyathi.

SPEAKER – Mr Walter Mujuru (Senior Lecturer at the Zimbabwe College of Music)

Walter MujuruOUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND EXPERIENCES AT THE ZIMBABWE COLLEGE OF MUSIC
– Composed the song “Precious Gift” for competition by all Zimbabwean Primary Schools for the National Association of Primary Heads (N.A.P.H) 2011.Pioneered the production of an instructional video accompanying the song.
– Composed a song “My Rights Your Rights” for the United Nations World Human Rights Day. Song was performed by a few chosen secondary schools in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe 2011.An instructional video was also produced.
– Entrusted by the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture to draft a hundred page training manual document for use by teachers towards setting up of Arts and Culture Clubs in 2011.
– Integrated into the National Culture Consultative Committee and tasked to draft a National Policy on Zimbabwean Heritage Arts and Culture December 2011 to January 2012

Entertainment by ZimTalent Hunt Voice 2014 winner ( Nicholas Kurangwa) and the finalists Rugare Natalie Chimombe and Eunice Nomagugu Ncube. Also performing will be Elliot Jnr Nyakauru and Chenai Felicity Chaendera (Zimtalent/WayTooNice Music) as Chenai &Elli-ot.
